Tax Scam Alert From the IRS
We are approaching the Tax Scam Season. Remember, the IRS will never call, email, or text you. The IRS uses US Mail to communicate with you. If you receive something in the mail at looks like it came from the IRS or the State of California and need help to understand the letter, contact us at [email protected] and we will confirm the communication is legitimate. The end of tax year 2024 is quickly approaching the end of the year and we have a few reminders:
RMD - Required Minimum Distribution.
If you have an IRA and over the age of 73 you are required to take a Taxable Minimum Distribution by December 31,2024. There is a hefty penalty for not taking your RMD so plan accordingly.
Estimated Taxes:
To avoid IRS penalties related to Estimated Taxes, the IRS require taxpayers who owe over $1,000 in income taxes to make estimated taxes. The due date for making estimated taxes for tax year 2024 is January 15th, 2025. If you are unsure if you need to make an estimated tax payment contact us at [email protected] and we will help you figure out what you owe.
Appointment to have your 2024 taxes prepared:
We have received several inquiries on when taxpayers will be able to make appointments to have their 2024 taxes prepared next year. Appointments will start in the second week of January. At that time, you will be able to schedule an appointment to have your 2024 Taxes prepared for Free. More information will follow in the weeks to come.
